GHANAIAN WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER SHE CONTRACTED SOMEONE TO KILL HER BUSINESS PARTNER

The Ashanti Regional Police Command have arrested a 41-year-old woman after someone she allegedly contracted to murder her business partner, tipped off the police.

The suspect, Joyce Antwi, a trader and resident of Buokrom Estatae, Kumasi, was arrested by police on Saturday, May 27. According to the police, the suspect contacted the purported assassin to kill her business partner who she owed GHc 99,000.

Joyce Antwi received the said amount in October 2015 for the expansion of her business, and promised to pay back her debt by April 2017. The victim in April 27, approached the suspect and gave her a June 2017 deadline to settle the amount.

Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah, who paraded the suspect before newsmen, said Joyce Antwi informed the supposed assassin on the 23rd of May, to assassinate her business partner, offering an amount of GH¢5,000, of which she made an initial payment of GH¢2,500.
“Joyce Antwi then asked the complainant to execute the job in the afternoon since the victim’s husband and children will be out of the house.”

“On Friday, 26th of May, the suspect, Joyce Antwi, took the complainant to the house of the victim at Buokrom Estate to show him the house,” DCOP Ken Yeboah stated.

But the purported contract killer who meant well, alerted the police about the intentions of the suspect.
"On the 27th of May went to the victim’s residence and asked her to call the suspect to come to her residence which she obliged, and she was arrested,” DCOP Ken Yeboah added.
Joyce Antwi subsequently confessed to the crime in her caution statement during interrogation, and is in police custody, assisting with further investigations.

RIHANNA FLASH SIDEBOOB AND CHEST TATTOO IN REVEALING OVERSIZED WHITE DRESS AT A FASHION LAUNCH

Rihanna has put on some weight and some think it suits her but one person who does not agree is an American sports writer. The writer fat-shamed Rihanna on Monday by saying she looked like she was wearing a sumo suit but Rihanna did not care as she stepped out on Wednesday dressed in a dress that was even more revealing, thereby showing off more of her fuller body.

Dressed in a plunging white dress, the 29-year-old showed her sideboob and chest tattoo. The dress was also short so it revealed her thighs, which are also now fuller. Do you think Rihanna's new weight suits her better or you prefer the way she looked before?

JONATHAN RAN GOVT OF GREEDOCRACY, BUHARI IS RUNNING GOVT OF CRIMINALS--MELAYE

Jonathan ran govt of greedocracy, Buhari running govt of criminals --Melaye
An All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator from Kogi State, Dino Melaye, on Wednesday described the Federal Government controlled by party, and led by
President Muhammadu Buhari as a government of “criminals, by the
criminals and for the criminals.”
He said the preceding government led by former President Goodluck Jonathan, was a government of the greedy, by the greedy and for the greedy.
“Democracy is defined as a government of the people, by the people and for the people but what we had in the time of Jonathan was greedocracy, which is the government of the greedy, by the greedy and for the greedy.
“Today, we have criminocracy-a government of the criminals, by the criminals and for the criminals,” he said.
Melaye stated this while giving his remarks at the 2017 Nigeria Democracy Day Lecture organized by the Save Democracy Group Africa (SDG-Africa) in Abuja.
The lecture was focused on the ills bedeviling the Nigerian state and
strategies for tackling them to entrench a culture of patriotism and nationalism.
Melaye, bemoaned President Buhari’s appointment of people into government, that fell short of the requisite experience required of the positions they occupy, and blamed some of the ills recorded in the first
two years of this administration on such development.
According to the senator, “wrong appointment was what led to emergence
of the (suspended) Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF
who became a grasscutter.
“When you appoint a man who has no experience in civil administration as SGF, he is bound to misbehave”, he said.
On how ro sustain the nation’s democracy, Melaye called on Nigerians to understand that a legitimate clash of interest always will come up between the legislature and the executive arm. He said the National
Assembly should be freed to carry on with its statutory duty without hindrance.
He said, “There is no where an auditor and the man who runs an organization are friends. There’s something wrong when the two are seen taking tea together.”
Supporting calls for restructuring he said, “We must discuss and agree to be Nigerians. We have not discussed and we have not agreed.”
He went further to say, “Generators should only be used at emergency centres like hospitals and mortuaries so that when there is no light in Karmo (a suburb of Abuja), there will be no light also at the villa.” This he said will make Nigerians trust their leaders and stop agitations.

CCT QUESTION PURCHASE OF VEHICLE FOR POLITICIANS WITH PUBLIC FUNDS

CCT questions purchase of vehicles for politicians with public funds

Justice of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Agwadza William Atedze,
has queried the use of public funds to buy vehicles for politicians.
He has therefore called on Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) to research the issues “to see how best we can reconcile our social and cultural values viz-a-viz the entire war against corruption and advise our policymakers accordingly.”
A statement released on Thursday and signed by SERAP deputy director,
Timothy Adewale, quoted Justice Atedze as saying this on Wednesday at the launch of SERAP’s latest report entitled “Combating Grand Corruption and Impunity in Nigeria: An Agenda for Institutional Reforms in Anti-Corruption Strategies”.
The report is published under a project to promote justice sector and anti-corruption oversight mechanism reform, which SERAP is undertaking in collaboration with the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), USA.
Apart from Justice Atedze who represented the chairman of the CCT, Justice Danladi Yakubu Umar at the report launch, other
anti-corruption agencies that attended the event were the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC); the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC); and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Dauda Joki-Lasisi, Head of Procurement and Fraud Section of the EFCC who represented the agency at the report launch said that, “The fight against corruption can be likened to an
allegory of a giant in the midst of ants, as little as an ant is, it may not be able to wear the trouser of a giant, but will remove it.”
Chairman of the report launch Barrister Babatunde Ogala in his speech said that, “Corruption is simply a way of life for us all, it is deep, when you steal as a religious institution, you are as corrupt as any
Nigerian. In my opinion, corruption is both cultural and religious, corruption is as big as this country, the way of curbing it is by
changing our national orientation.”
Barrister Ogala, who was former Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary, also said that, the EFCC ought to have offices even at the local government level.
“The society itself encourages and invests in corruption. As a legislator, I was constantly measured by!what I did for individuals and not by the amount of law making I engaged in,” he said.
The report contains several recommendations among which is the call to then Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Hon Justice Walter Onnoghen, to “ensure that all judges fully utilise the provisions of the
Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) in the hearing of grand corruption cases before them.”
Among other key recommendations, the report urges Justice Onnoghen to “ensure that judges, in situations where the ACJA rules apply, are made to follow the dictates of these innovative statutory interventions or face disciplinary action, and to incorporate into ongoing judicial trainings these crucial statutes and procedures as
well as include the ACJA as part of the mandatory continuing legal education for all judges in Nigeria.”
The report also recommends that “The Chief Justice and all other judges should also periodically disclose and publish their assets. The Chief Justice should promote full independence for the National
Judicial Council including by allowing retired judges of proven integrity to lead the council.”
