FAAN Bans Luggage Checking At Departure Hall

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria says checking of travellers luggage will no longer be done at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The Managing Director, FAAN, Mr. Saleh Dunoma, said this was part of the plan to ensure the implementation of the Executive Order recently issued by the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.

OMOJUWA PENS EMOTIONAL TRIBUTE TO SISTER WHO DIED OF TYPHOID FEVER

Public speaker and political commentator, Japheth Omojuwa is bereaved. His sister, Oreoluwa Gloria died of typhoid fever in Port Harcourt recently. In an emotional piece on his Instagram page, Omojuwa wrote,

A 16 year old schoolboy, Osman Sharif, was tragically stabbed to death after getting into a fight over one of his Snapchat stories. Osman was stabbed in the chest with a kitchen knife in broad daylight on Tuesday at Tottenham Green, London.

The Director of Information, Mr Salisu Dambatta in a statement today in Abuja, said that payment was related to the recovery of N11.6 billion.

JUSTICE ADEMOLA RESUMES SITTING

Justice Adeniyi Ademola of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday resumed sitting following his recall by the National Judicial Council last week.

Justice Ademola was among the six judges earlier asked by the NJC to stop sitting, shortly after raid conducted by the State Security Service on his house and other judges’ in October last year.

But the NJC, in a statement through its Director of Information, Mr. Soji Oye, stated on Saturday that Justice Ademola should resume his judicial duties on the basis that the court had exonerated him of the charges preferred against him by the Federal Government.

The Chief Judge of Zamfara State, Justice Kulu Aliyu, has said that over 700 cases will soon be reviewed in its bid to crack down prison congestion and wrongful imprisonment in the state.

A 22-year-old woman arrested by the Special Armed Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Anambra State Police Command has confessed to having sold 20 children since she went into child trafficking business. Most of the children she sold between N150,000 - N200,000, were kidnapped on their way home from school. The suspect, Chinaza Onwuasoanya was impregnated by her boyfriend in Lagos and returned to Anambra State to have the baby after which she sold the child to a 45-year-old woman, Goodness, who runs an orphanage, which the police allege was a cover for a baby trafficking operation.

Gunmen launched what appeared to be coordinated shooting attacks today at Iran’s parliament and the shrine of Ayatollah Khomeini, the spiritual leader of the Iranian Revolution, according to Iranian media.

One of the attackers reportedly blew himself up in a suicide bombing while attacking the shrine.
