The Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF), on Friday expressed support to the call by the Coalition of Northern Youth Groups for Igbos to leave the region within three months.

The group made its position known despite widespread condemnation that followed the ultimatum earlier handed by the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum.

The forum expressed “disappointment” with the Northern Governors’ Forum for disowning the youth groups.

Controversial Nigerian televangelist Timothy Omotoso was refused bail in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s court on Friday, June 9.

Senate Passes Witness Protection Bill Sponsored by Late Isiaka Adeleke

The Senate on Thursday passed for third reading, the Witness Protection Bill that recommends a two-year jail term or N500, 000 fine for any insincere witness in court. The bill also made provisions for stiff punishment for anyone who pulls out of any ongoing case for which he’s standing in a witness.

A Kenyan woman based in Germany appeared in court Wednesday for the alleged murder of her German husband in September 2016.

The suspects, Armina A. a mother of two and her lover, Jan D conspired and killed her husband, Ekkehart H while she was making love with him at their home in Ebersdorf.

German newspaper Bild reports that the court documents show how Armina A. planned the murder of her husband Ekkehart H, carefully laying down the plans with her lover who was identified as Jan D.

Police in Zimbabwe says two men were sexually assaulted after they were offered lifts by seven women in two separate incidents in Harare.

The first victim was held up with a gun, forced into the bush, raped and then drugged while the other was knocked out by a drink and abused while unconscious.

The Borno state Police command says 17 persons were killed and 24 persons were injured in the attacks carried out by Boko Haram members in Maiduguri, Borno state on Wednesday June 7th. Two armed robbers were shot dead yesterday by men of the Ogun State Police Command while robbing a luxury bus along Ijebu Ode-Ore-Benin Expressway.

PROTEST ROCKS YABATECH OVER TUITION FEES HIKE

Students of the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, today embarked on a protest against the decision of the institution’s authorities to increase tuition fees.
