KCEE SPEAK ON HOW ARTISTS DISHONOUR CONTRACT SIGNED WITH RECORD LABEL WHEN THEY MAKE SMALL MONEY

In an interview with HipTV, Kcee shared his thoughts on artists who dishonour the contracts they signed with their music label after they've become known and successful. If you recall, Kcee and E-Money of Five Star Music had a public fallout with Harrysong over this, but they have since setted after they got the police involved and peacemakers with the industry intervened.

According to Kcee;

"Most of these guys are hungry, and they are not interested in reading your contract. You type a contract for an upcoming artist, of 10 pages. Hes not interested in reading the contract. All he's interested in for you to put him on the camera and let him shoot a video. Put them in a studio to record music. And he wants to see himself in South Africa, London. That's what he interested in. Once he gets that, he's satisfied. The next thing is how he's going to do without you and he's going to forget your contract. So its high time we, the record label owners, try to make these guys go through their contracts. Read it for them line by line, get your lawyer sit with them and they should get their lawyer or someone from their own angle. Because some of them don't have family when they come to you, but all of a sudden, when they become huge and big, they have families and friends. They come to fight for them.

"So I think we should put that in play when they are being signed, They should bring that their friends and their families from the initial stage, to come and help them read the contract, before you invest. It's not easy to give them a platform, money, and all the investment that is needed, and when the person gets to this level, they want to throw you aside. Sometimes it's hurting, some of these record label owners don't find it funny. And away from that, the blessings that goes with that, you will lose it by the time you breach your contract. Because for someone to invest a dime in you, it's like a risk because you don't know if that person is going to make it. So when you now make it and you think you can do without the person, not in a proper way or fulfilling your obligations, trust me, even God in heaven is not going to be happy with you.

"So I think the advice is that we the record label owners should also make sure that they know what they are signing this time, before they go into it. Don't try to pretend to make them fell like you are tying them down, you are tying yourself down because at the end of the day, they will fight you, you will go to court. So lets do that from the beginning and settle it before we move on.

DRUNK KENYAN DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER KILLING US COUPLE IN AN ACCIDENT

Moses Mwangi, a 26-year-old Kenyan driver living in Dallas, United States, was on Sunday arrested and charged with manslaughter and intoxication.

Police said on Tuesday said he was behind the wheel of a vehicle that crashed into and killed a young couple near the Dallas North Tollway.

A wife reportedly stabbed her husband to death with a scissors, following an argument they had. According to their neighbour Chidex Lily, the incident happened at NO. 4 Aguatta St off Omuma Rd. Aba. The deceased, Obinna, from Mbaise, Imo State, was stabbed, last week, after an argument with his wife got them into a fight. The man, said to be a meat seller at Eziukwu market, died on Wednesday, 10th of May, 2017.

COURT GRANTS EX-FCT MINISTER ,BALA MOHAMMED,N500MILLION BAIL

Justice A. M. Talba of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court sitting in Gudu, Abuja, has granted bail to a former minister of FCT, Bala Mohammed on a 6-count charge of abuse of office, false declaration of assets and fraud to the tune of N864million preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
He was admitted to bail in the sum of N500million with two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must be a senator and the other, a director in any of the federal government establishment. Both sureties must have landed properties in the FCT with Certificates of Occupancy and must have evidence of tax clearance in last one year. The defendant must deposit his international passport with the registrar of the court.

Arraigned on Wednesday, May 10, Mohammed, while in office as minister, allegedly received N550million as bribe from the Aso Savings and Loans Limited with respect to some properties in the Asokoro area of Abuja. He is said to have corruptly used his position as Board Chairman of Aso Savings to undue advantage to himself by allocating four numbers fully detached duplexes and 11 numbers semi-detached duplexes valued at N314million through the Presidential Taskforce on Sale of Governments Houses.

The former FCT minister is also accused of making false declaration of his assets.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. Justice Talba had after ruling on his bail fixed July 4, 2017 for trial and ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison custody pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.

258 NIGERIANS DEPORTED FROM LIBYA

A total of 258 Nigerians stranded in Libya were returned home on Thursday, May 11.

The returnees were received  by NEMA's Director General Engr. Mustangs Maihajja, represented by Deputy Director, Search and Rescue, Dr. Bandele Onimode with South West Zonal Coordinator, Alh. Suleiman Taking and other stakeholders at the Hajj Camp of Mortals Muhammad International Airport, Ikeja.

The aircraft with registration number LAA 1464/LAA 1465, a Libya Airline landed at about 9:45 p.m.

The returnees who looked malnourished were also received by NIS, NAPTIP, Police and others are assisted in various ways by various agencies to facilitate their early settlement and reintegration back into Nigeria society.

TWO NAIJA YAHOO ARRESTED FOR $10M FRAUD IN CANADA,THEY USE PEOPLE'S MONEY TO LIVE BIG

Two Nigerians in Canada have been arrested by the Canadian police while two others were declared wanted for identity theft and fraud amounting to over $10 million. Police claim the four suspects used the funds they got from identity theft to fund a lavish lifestyle that included $10,000 crocodile skin shoes and $150,000 watches.
Canadian authorities made this known in a statement released on Tuesday. The identities of the suspects were disclosed to be: Adedayo Ogundana, 45, also known as Oladipupo Ogund; Adekunle Johnson Omitiran, 37; Duro Akintola, 44, of Toronto, who is also known as Michie Noah; and Emmanuel Salako, 47, who is also known as Gee Salaq.

Toronto police arrested Ogundana and Omitiran during an investigation which began in 2016. They executed a search on April 24 at a Yorkville condominium believed to be under the control of Adekunle, there they found evidence. Items seized during the investigation include 37 stolen credit cards, hundreds of pieces of presumably stolen mail, and a number of notebooks containing the personal information of at least 5,000 GTA residents. Police also found $39,000 in cash, $310,000 worth of watches and about $390,000 worth of clothing, jewelry, accessories and liquor.

A warrant was later issued for Akintola and Salako. Salako has also been indicted by the United States Postal Inspection Service in Chicago and is wanted there. Ogundana was arrested on December 13, 2016, and has been charged with two counts of fraud of over $5,000; 10 counts of fraud under $5,000; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and possession of proceeds of crime. Omitiran surrendered to police on April 27. He is charged with fraud of over $5,000; four counts of fraud under $5,000; two counts of identity theft; trafficking identity information; possession of credit cards obtained by crime; possession of proceeds of crime; and failure to comply with probation.

Ogundana will appear in court on Thursday while Omitiran will appear in court on Friday. Police believe that Omitiran had ties to people with “legitimate” access to identity information who sold information to him. They are trying to track down those people. 

“Thousands of individuals across the GTA have had their information compromised,” said Det. Const. Mike Kelly.

GOVERNOR AMOSUN NARROWLY ESCAPE DEATH AS CBN BULLION VAN RAN IN TO HIS CONVOY

Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun on Thursday narrowly escaped unhurt when a convoy of bullion vans belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN rammed into the governor’s convoy on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.


The incident, which occurred around Ibafo, while the Governor was traveling to Lagos for an official assignment, saw the CBN convoy damaging the escort vehicle in the governor’s convoy.
The CBN convoy, driving dangerously, attempted to overtake the governor’s convoy without regards for the safety of other road users.

On sensing danger, the Ogun Governor’s escort commander used a public address system mounted on his vehicle to warn the CBN convoy to desist from such reckless driving.





Not only was the Governor’s escort commander ignored, the CBN convoy drivers went ahead to crush his vehicle and subsequently went after other vehicles in the Governor’s convoy, including the Governor’s official car, before they were brought to a halt by the security team attached to the Governor.

Reacting to the incident, Governor Amosun said,

“this is lawlessness and the height of impunity.”

He added that,

“if this could happen to a governor within his territory, you can imagine what they would do to our citizens who are simply going about their legitimate business.”

Governor Amosun expressed disappointment with the reckless manner in which the CBN bullion van convoy often conducts itself on the road and warned that such acts of impunity will not be tolerated within the borders of Ogun State.

“We will not allow such senseless and reckless behavior in Ogun State,” Governor Amosun said.

This is not the first time the Governor would have cause to personally caution reckless CBN convoy drivers in Ogun State. On several occasions, the Ogun State Governor had to personally turn back reckless CBN bullion van drivers who often drive against traffic, with impunity, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

13 YEARS OLD GIRL HANGS HERSELF AFTER A LITTLE QUARREL WITH HER BROTHER

13-year-old Bethany Fitton committed suicide following a minor argument with her 18-year-old brother. Prior to hanging herself, Bethany wrote 'I hate my brother' on her arm. Her lifeless body was later found by her 18-year-old brother, Ben, as it was dangling from the ceiling of their home in West Yorkshire.
Bethany, who was described by her school as an "outstanding pupil", had quarrelled with her brother over something trivial, the same way siblings are known to do. 

Ben had slept late and Bethany did not wake him up so that caused them to quarrel that morning. Ben told police that he and his sister quarrelled once in a while over silly little things and said that the row that morning had "been a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10".  Bethany is said to have been a popular and happy girl who had a "typical relationship" with her brother.

Her mother described her daughter as a "reliable and capable" girl with a lot of common sense and said that she had been happy and chatty the previous evening and they talked about how Bethany spent more time in her room, to which she'd answered:

"Mum, I'm a teenager."

After Bethany argued with her brother, she left for her lessons at Calder High School in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire. It was heard that during her lessons that day, she used ink to write 'I hate my brother' on her left arm. She was known to constantly scribble things on her body. After leaving school, the teenager met her new boyfriend for a walk in the local park before catching the bus home to have her tea.  Bethany's accountant father, Richard, was still at work when she got home and her older brother had gone to the cinema with his girlfriend. Her mother Estelle said Bethany took her dinner upstairs and played music. She said when Ben returned home with his girlfriend, he was asked to take a basket of laundry upstairs and there he found his sister hanging. He and his girlfriend quickly untied Bethany and gave her CPR.

When she remained unresponsive, she was rushed to Calderdale Royal Hospital and then transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, but her brain had been starved of oxygen and she died on 25 June 2016.

Bethany's father said in a statement: "I cannot understand why Beth has done this. This is the last thing I ever expected to happen - it was out of the blue

EFCC TRACES $3M RARIS FUND TO A GOVERNOR

2BABA REPORTEDLY THREATENS TO SUE BLACKFACE FOR DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER

Music legend, 2Baba has been the target of a lot of accusations from his former bandmate, Blackface in recent times. He has however come out to threaten Blackface with legal action unless the latter apologizes for defamation of character.

In a letter written by his lawyers and obtained exclusively by Str8upbangin, it states that Blackface (real name Ahmedu Augustine) should tender a general unreserved apology for all statements made and published by him in the past as well as cease form making further defamatory remarks.

The letter also gives him a week to apologize or face the music at the court of law.

Blackface had recently threatened to sue 2Baba and his manager, Efe Omoregbe over alleged copyright infringement in an interview with Premium Times. He accused 2Baba of stealing his songs like “Let Somebody Love You” and the mega-hit, “African Queen”.
