KIDNAPPERS OF SIX STUDENTS IN LAGOS DEMAND N1BILLION RANSOM

Kidnappers of the six male students of Igbonla Model College, Epe, Lagos State, who were abducted last Thursday, May 25th, have contacted parents of the students and are demanding N1bn ransom to release them. The names of the abducted students are Pelumi Philips, Farouq Yusuf, Isiaq Rahmon, Adebayo George, Judah Agbausi and Peter Jonah. 
According to reports, the kidnappers contacted four of the parents. While two of them were asked to pay N100 million ransom, two others were asked to pay N400 million for their kidnapped sons. They were asked to raise the money with the help of the state government and the school management.

Meanwhile the Lagos state commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, has vowed to ensure that the students are rescued and their abductors are apprehended.

LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT DESTROY ILLICIT DRUGS WORTH MILLIONS OF NAIRA, ARREST 115 HOODLUMS

The Lagos State Government destroyed/burnt weeds suspected to be Indian hemp worth millions of naira recovered from arrested miscreants and hoodlums during the fracas at Mushin recently.

The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force SP Olayinka Egbeyemi with the enforcement team of the Agency destroyed/burnt these illegal drugs, codeine, Indian hemp and other outlawed drugs at Olusosun Dump Site in compliance with the order of Magistrate Tosin Ojuromi of the Lagos State Mobile Court at Oshodi.
SP Egbeyemi disclosed that Magistrate Tosin Ojuromi recently gave the 'Court Order' after the prosecution of 36 miscreants and hoodlums arrested during the fracas between Alamutu and Akala-Elegba boys at Idi-oro where innocent citizens were killed and injured with properties worth several millions damaged.

However, in order to make the entire Mushin area more secured for both businesses and residential, the operatives of the Agency led by SP Olayinka Egbeyemi again over the weekend arrested another 115 miscreants and hoodlums during an over-night operations carried out around Fadeyi, Akala and Idi-oro area of Mushin.

These newly arrested 115 miscreants and hoodlums consists of 113 males and 2 females. Meanwhile, during preliminary investigation carried out by the Agency, one of these newly arrested 115 miscreants and hoodlums 'Lanre Olowojobi (a.k.a Pumpy) was a notorious criminals who have killed and raped innocent members of the public around Mushin area.

Lanre Olowojobi (37yrs) from 'Ipoti' in Ekiti State made a recorded confessional statement that since the fracas started dated back to January 29, 2010 he had killed with guns and injured several people with dangerous weapons.

He disclosed that 'Pump Action' guns and other dangerous weapons being used during any fracas around Idi-oro, Fadeyi, Akala area of Mushin were in the custody of thier group leader one 'Toba Ajiboye' who is currently the Chairman of the NURTW Obalende Unit, Mushin.

While the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Mr. Fatai Owoseni directed that all these newly arrested 115 miscreants and hoodlums be charged to court, he ordered that Lanre Olowojobi (a.k.a Pumpy) who made a volunteered confessional statements be immediately transferred to State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos for further investigations.

They were arraigned under Magistrate Lateef Owolabi of the Lagos State Mobile Court at Oshodi with 3 counts charged of 'Belonging to unlawful society, Conducts likely to cause Breach of Peace and Disorderly manner without visiable means of livelyhood' all punishable under Sections 40 (1)(d), 168 (1)(d) and 116 (1)(a) of the Lagos State Criminal Laws.

Magistrate Lateef Owolabi of the Lagos State Mobile Court who prosecuted these newly 114 arrested miscreants/hoodlums at Oshodi however sentenced individual of them to one year imprisonment each with N70,000 as an option of fine after they all pleaded guilty to the 3 counts charged interpreted in different languages to them.

Registrar of the Lagos State Mobile Court Mr. Olanrewaju Jamiyu hinted that the judgement was to sent a signal to other notorious miscreants and hoodlums across the ensure State to shun violence and other criminality activities.

KOGI STATE GOVERNOR, YAHAYA BELLO SAYS HE WILL NOT RESIGN OVER HIS DOUBLE VOTERS REGISTRATION

Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello says he will not give in to the demands from chieftains of APC in his state, asking him to resign over his double voters registration.

Last week, some APC chieftains in the state led by Senator Dino Melaye, held a press conference where they called on him to resign over his double voters registration or face impeachment by the lawmakers at the state House of Assembly.

INEC last week issued a statement accusing Yahaya of committing an illegality by doing his voters registration twice. In a statement released by his Director-General on Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwon today, Yahaya said those demanding for his resignation are political jokers.

According to Yahaya, the issue of his double registration during the exercise is being overblown by his opponents to score cheap goals. He ‎said he welcomes INEC's decision to cancel the latter registration. He noted that the Kogi State House of Assembly will not be blackmailed into reversing the gains of democracy in the state.

The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday broke one of the bail conditions set by the Federal High Court, Abuja for his release. Justice Binta Nyako had earlier stated that Kanu's bail will be revoked if he flouts any of the orders in his bail conditions, one of which is that he's not to be in a gathering of more than 10 people.

YOUNG MAN SHOT DEAD IN BAYELSA BY SUSPECTED CULTISTS AS THE FAMILY MOURNS

It's a sad moment for the family and friends of Jackson Olali, who was shot dead in Yenagoa, Bayelsa. According to reports, Jackson Olali while heading home from a birthday party held at a popular hotel along Tombia Road, Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, was attacked by gunmen, suspected to be members of a notorious cult group in the state, and shot in the head.

The victim was said to be a peace loving man and a graduate of Imo state university IMSU, who had graduated about ten (10) years ago.

His family members have taken to their Facebook pages to mourn the young man. May his soul rest in peace.

Coming after we reported that Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River State, reportedly ordered tear gas on peaceful protesters who were protesting against his government in Calabar, it has been gathered that a student who was among the protesters have been left with an injury.

IGBO YOUTHS LAUNCH ANTI-BIAFRA MOVEMENT, SLAM NNAMDI KANU

A youth group, under the aegis of Igbo for Nigerian Movement, INM, has floated anti-Biafra campaign to unite people of Igbo extraction in order to reap maximum benefits from the peaceful co-existence of one United Nigeria. 

IINM called on the entire Ndigbo to bury the idea of the struggle of the Republic of Biafra and embrace the new platform, INM for intellectual and strategic engagements that would enthrone equity, fairness and justice to every member of the Nigerian State. 

The group warned that the ongoing clamour by some persons for the secession of Igbo from Nigeria was a call to self-destruction and would only do them more harm than good.

Some groups, including the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, as well as the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, under the leadership of Uchenna Madu have been clamoring for the birth of Biafra.

According to them, Nigeria is a zoo and has succeeded in expunging them from the scheme of things in the nation.

However, the INM leader, Maxi Igwe Ifeanyi speaking alongside with his newly inaugurated Excos with our correspondent on Sunday, called on those supporting the return of Biafra to quickly swallow their word and work together for a united Nigeria in line with the vision of great nationalists like Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. 


Mazi Ifeanyi Igwe, the group's leader in his interview, insisted that Biafra was not the panacea to Igbos' problem, rather the beginning of more trouble for the land as the agitation has continue to sow the seed of suspicion for the average Igboman particularly in the political circle used by other ethnic groups as the key to other segment of our national life. 

He said, "The ongoing clamour by some infertile-minded Igbo brethren for the secession of South east from Nigeria is a call to self-destruction, to say the least.

"It is obvious that those championing the movement for the return of Biafra were not born during the civil war and have no single idea of what Ndigbo went through during and after the war.

"We therefore call on those behind this movement to sheathe their sword and embrace a one and united Nigeria.

"Biafra is never the solution to our problem. In fact, it is the beginning of more problems for our already-troubled land.

"INM stands for the unity of Nigeria and urge those beating war drum to heed to the old Igbo adage that says, "ogwumagana agahi ogbanye ije ya maka na ohia n'ere oku (the chameleon does not change its movement because the bush is on fire.)" he added.

Nollywood actress Rosaline Meurer continued the charity works for Big Church Foundation with a visit to 3-H maternity Clinic‎ for pregnant women. The hospital had several women both in labour and those that newly gave birth. 

Rosaline who‎ is also the Ambassador for the foundation for mother and Child gave each of the women money for their hospital bills and maternity upkeep. It was indeed a celebration galore for them as they made a beautiful song to appreciate her and the goodwill of the popular Nigeria NGO. One of the high points of the benevolence visit was the excited delivery of a child by one of the women as she called after the Ambassador's departure to express her overwhelming appreciation for the money given. 

It would be recalled that Meurer has been with Big Church Foundation for over 3 years and has  travelled with the team to different states and beyond for events and programmes hosted by NGO owned by Nigeria's famous philanthropist, Dr. Olakunle Churchill.
