ARSENAL MAINTAIN CHASE FOR CHAMPIONS LEAGE SPOTS WITH DOMINANT STOKE CITY WIN

BellaNaija - Arsenal maintain chase for Champions League Spot with Dominant Stoke Win
The Arsenal futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez remain in doubt but the duo proved key to avoiding a potential slip-up in their English Premier League top-four ambitions at a historic bogey ground with a 4-1 win over Stoke City.
Ozil and Sanchez will be out of contract at Arsenal at the end of next season and negotiations over extensions have been stalling, but they proved their worth with a goal each to send the Gunners one point behind fourth-placed Liverpool, who take on West Ham on Sunday. After Olivier Giroud‘s 42nd-minute opener, the pair combined for a sensational second – Sanchez’s pinpoint pass finding Ozil in the box and the German obliged with a lovely dink beyond Jack Butland. Stoke pulled a goal back in controversial fashion as substitute Peter Crouch steered Marko Arnautovic‘s cross into the back of the net with his hand, but Sanchez eased Arsenal’s nerves when his deflected strike found the bottom-left corner with 14 minutes remaining. Prior to scoring his 50th Premier League goal the Chilean signalled to the bench that he was experiencing discomfort in his left thigh and he was swiftly substituted, and his replacement Aaron Ramsey set up Giroud for his second – the Frenchman justifying his selection ahead of Danny Welbeck.
The result means that should Liverpool fail to pick up maximum points at London Stadium, Arsenal will qualify for next season’s Champions League by winning their final two home games against Sunderland and Everton.

BEING NAKE IS WHAT MAKE US HUMAN__DAUGHTER OF MICHEAL JACKSON

On Friday evening, Hollywood’s newest ‘it girl’ and daughter of late Michael Jackson, Paris Jackson took to Instagram to share a revealing photo of herself out on her balcony.
Before the comments started pouring in, she already had much to say about her picture. She captioned her post:
I’ll say it again for those questioning what I stand for and how I express myself. Nudity started as a movement for ‘going back to nature’, ‘expressing freedom’, ‘being healthier’ and was even called a philosophy. Being naked is part of what makes us human. For me it helps me feel more connected to Mama Gaia. I’m usually naked when I garden.”
It’s actually a beautiful thing and you don’t have to make it sexual the way many Hollywood stars (and the media) do. Not only is your body a temple and should be worshipped as so, but also part of feminism is being able to express yourself in your own way, whether it’s being conservative and wearing lots of clothes or showing yourself.

NIGERIANS TOPS THE HIGHEST DRUG TRAFFICERS IN INDIA

Nigerians top list of Foreigners Arrested for Drug Trafficking in India - Officials

Nigerian nationals have reportedly topped the list of foreigners arrested for drug trafficking in Navi Mumbai over the past five years. According to the sources from the anti-narcotic cell of Navi Mumbai police, a total of 66 narcotic related cases were registered between 2012 and April, this year in the city. Nigerian nationals were involved in 14 of these cases, the police said.
The Punch reports that since 2012, the Navi Mumbai police have arrested 14 foreign nationals for smuggling drugs to the city in which 13 of them were from Nigeria and one from Ghana.
The police reportedly arrested another Nigerian from Kopar Khairane a week ago who had come to sell mephedrone rock and powder.
Tushar Doshi, deputy commissioner of police (special branch) said,
When it comes to drug smuggling by foreign nationals, by and large all the criminals are from Africa in general and from Nigeria in particular. The number of foreign nationals including those from Africa has also increased in the city over the past two years.”
The police said these Nigerians work in networks which also operate in other cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. They added that the biggest problem faced while trying to get details about their business is the language barrier which limits their interrogations after the arrests.
Amit Shellar, police sub-inspector from the anti-narcotic cell added that most of the Nigerians arrested for drug smuggling had come to India on a business visa.
He said apart from drug smuggling, several Nigerians were also arrested for online cheating, credit card and debit card frauds among others.

IJAW UNION WANTS OBASANJO PROBE OVER MALABU OIL SCAM

Ijaw Union wants Obasanjo probed over Malabu oil scam

The Ijaw Union has called on the Federal Government to without delay probe former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s involvement in the alleged OPL 245 Malabu Oil and Gas deal scandal.
The call for the probe of Obasanjo is coming as the former president had during interactions with newsmen at a function in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia recently, claimed that the deal was not approved by him.
Obasanjo had during the interaction said, “What Etete did is the height of corruption. He appropriated the asset to himself illegally, illegitimately and immorally. Adoke and others should not drag me into a matter I know nothing about. If they have been asked to answer questions over decisions they took while in office, they should do that honourably.”
But faulting Obasanjo, the Ijaw Union in a statement by its heads, Ebitari Dombraye and Awengidappa Wilson, argued that querying the former President is necessary, and described his exoneration of himself from the deal as “psychic purveyor of untruths.”
Part of the statement read, “Former President Obasanjo held sway, not only as president between 1999 and 2007 but also as petroleum minister, during which he performed the duties and responsibilities as enshrined within the Petroleum Act of 1969.
“For him to absolve himself of responsibility, only serves to give credence as a psychotic purveyor of untruths. Obasanjo gave approvals, all in writing to reinstate Malabu’s license to OPL 245 after protracted court cases and national assembly resolutions threatened to lay waste to the asset.
“This approval was validated by two successive Nigerian presidents thereafter. If Chief Obasanjo’s claim has any currency, are we saying none of the individuals and ministries in the deal got involved without the knowledge of the president or minister of petroleum who were one and the same person?”
The union noted that the government must carry out due diligence in the Malabu deal investigations.
A recent report by an American news website, Buzzfeed, had also alleged that it was possible former President Goodluck Jonathan, a former Attorney-General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke (SAN), and some lawmakers got about $400million from the $1.3billion Malabu scam.
The report was sequel to a revelation by a former Russian Ambassador and Intelligence Officer, Ednan Agaev, when he spoke with officials of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States as well as Italian prosecutors.
