CLUSTER OF ALMAJIRI HANGING ON TRUCK IN KADUNA

As posted by Faha Ibrahim Danladi on Facebook:
"I saw a cluster of Almajiri in Kaduna while I was coming to Kano from Abuja. Parents are giving birth to children that they cannot cater for their need and they end up sending them to cities as almajiri or house girl. This is a clear case of family planning. You give birth to 20 children and you send 17 to cities as Almajiri. Is this not a dangerous type of family planning?"

RIVER STATE GOVERNOR NYESOM WIKE TO HONOUR ROTIMI AMAECHI WITH MAJOR AWARDS

Come Saturday May 27th, Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, will honor his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, with one of the state's highest awards.

The awards ceremony is part of activities lined up to mark the state's golden jubilee. Governor Wike at the ceremony will honor Amaechi with the Grand Service Star of Rivers State.

At the ceremony, Wike will also be honoring past leaders of the state for their contributions towards the growth and development of the state. Former president Goodluck Jonathan and former military leader, Yakubu Gowon, would be be part of the honorees.

Both Wike and Amaechi have overtime become arch enemies after Wike who used to be Amaechi's chief of staff during his first term in office from 2007 to 2011, aligned with former First lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, and contested for governorship of the state in the 2015 general election, a decision that did not go well with Amaechi.

It is not yet certain whether Amaechi would receive the award himself or would send a representative.

NIGERIAN TEACHER JAILED FOR 18YEARS FOR DRUG IN VIETNAM

A former Nigerian English teacher found guilty of attempting to retail methamphetamine and sentenced to 18 years in jail has won his appeal to get the term shortened by one year in southern Vietnam, according to a court verdict.

An appellate court in Ho Chi Minh City cut the jail term for Izundu Lotanna Chukwudi, 42, after a hearing Tuesday, May 23, citing limited consequence of the illegal trade. (He is pictured in Court yesterday)

The previous verdict handed last September said Chukwudi came to Ho Chi Minh City to work as an English teacher at American-Vietnam International Language School in 2008 and met a fellow Nigerian called Bruno in 2013, who persuaded him to sell drugs for some extra income.

In January 2014, Bruno gave Chukwudi 400 grams (0.88 lb) of methamphetamine and asked him to sell for at least $2,800 per 100 grams. A month later Chukwudi was busted in the city's backpacker area as he was trying to sell the drugs to a Vietnamese for up to $4,000.

Vietnam has some of the world’s toughest drug laws. Those convicted of possessing or smuggling more than 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5kg of methamphetamine face the death penalty.

DRAMA AS PASTOR IS ARRESTED WITH MARIJUANA DURING CHURCH SERVICE

The congregation of House of Grace Ministries Service in Highfield, Zimbabwe were stunned on Sundaywhen police stormed the church during service to arrest their leader, Prophet Shame Hungwe who they caught with a sack full of marijuana.

According to iharare, a couple had surrendered the sack full of marijuana and bottles of broncleer cough syrup to the man of God following his prophecy into their lives.
After handing them over to the pastor, Police storm the church building and disrupted Prophet Hungwe’s service.

In frustration to arrest the couple who had already escaped before the police arrived at the church, the prophet was arrested during his service and was taken to Machipisa police station.

Out of love for their prophet, congregations were reportedly involved in an altercation with the police officers as the clergy was being taken to the police station and the police were forced to fire gunshots into the air to disperse the crowd.

Narrating the scene to H-Metro after he was released,  Prophet Hungwe said a couple brought a sack full of marijuana while another family brought knobkerries and traditional regalia and snuff following his prophecy into their lives.
“This is my first time to be taken to a police station in my life but I just carried my part of ministering to families and they were repented and brought things they use in their lifestyles,” said Prophet Hungwe.

“I do not know how the couple disappeared from the church upon the arrival of the police officers. I made a prophecy to the couple about their dealings and they confirmed dealing in illicit drugs at their house and they later came back with a sack full of drugs and bottles of broncleer.
We respect the rule of law and law enforcement agents are there to help us on issues that have nothing to do with spiritual deliverance.

What was revealed to me was that the couple uses charms in their dealings and this lead them to keep such drugs without being arrested. I asked them to join a prayer line for deliverance and they disappeared after reports of police presence. I am prepared to deliver the family and I love them,” said Prophet Hungwe.
